A privately guided tour to the splendidly lush cloud forest region of Ecuador. Perfect for nature lovers, Mindo is filled with bird and plant life. Walk forest trails, ride the local cable car over the canopy, look for colourful tanagers and hummingbirds, visit the local butterfly farm and sample the artisanal chocolate produced in the area.

Itinerary
Day 1 Quito – Mindo (L,D)
Your private naturalist guide will pick you up from your Quito hotel this morning to begin the journey down the outer slopes of the Andes and into Ecuador’s cloud forest region.
En route we stop at the beautiful mini-gardens of Alambi where the innumerous hummingbirds are mesmerizing. The neighbouring coffee plantation is a great place to learn about Ecuador’s cultivation of shade grown organic coffee, with an opportunity to savour the local produce too.
Then we continue our journey and arrive at Sachatamia Lodge where lunch will be included.
In the afternoon we can explore the trails of the Sachatamia reserve, looking out for different species of hummingbirds, tanagers and toucans.
Dinner and overnight in El Monte Lodge.
Day 2 Mindo (B,L,D)
This morning we enjoy a stunning 530m cable car ride over the cloud forest canopy. This is a relaxing experience with beautiful views of the lush countryside that this region is famous for. Later we can visit the local butterfly house in Mindo.
Lunch at El Monte.
In the afternoon we can enjoy a chocolate workshop where we learn about the elaboration of local chocolate, and most importantly get to sample the end product.
Dinner and overnight in El Monte Lodge.
Day 3 Mindo – Quito (B,L)
A morning exploring the trails of El Monte Reserve with your wildlife guide. As we hike the footpaths of the reserve we are on the look-out for more colourful fauna and flora.
Lunch at El Monte.
In the afternoon we return to Quito.
